TriCare South Region Changing Contractors

Starting in the Fall of 2010, UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services of Minnetonka, Minn., will take over the TriCare South Region from Humana Military Healthcare Services. Humana Military Healthcare Services is protesting the contract award.

Tricare Prime, the managed care option, "may be discontinued" in some areas. Humana, for example, offered Prime throughout its 10-state region. New contracts require Prime coverage only within 40 miles of a base or base closure site.
